It is with great sadness that Sydney's 2RRR announced the passing of friend and colleague Ray Volpatti on Tuesday 15 April 2014.

Ray had long been involved with 2RRR, joining the station as an announcer in 1996 and quickly establishing himself with the quality jazz programming of 'Ray's Bag'.

As part of his professional career outside of community broadcasting, Ray gained extensive experience in installing electronic fitouts and became a great resource to the station whenever needed. Ray was so valued for his expertise that the 2RRR Board wasted no time in establishing him as Technical Director.

In addition to his work with 2RRR, Ray was also a member of Sydney's Eastside Radio, providing support to new members.

Ray is a great example of the vibrant, exceptional individuals who make up the community broadcasting sector. His dedication, generous spirit and professionalism have benefited us all. We offer our deepest sympathy to wife Wendy and sons Jeremy, Matthew and Christopher.
