Community Digital Radio Campaign Day of Action
The CBAA held a national day of action as part of the Commit to Community Radio Campaign to restore the full level of funding required for community digital radio services. Stations from right around the country spoke to their communities urging them to sign up to the campaign website and make their views known to their local MP. Broadcasters ran dozens of interviews and stories explaining the need for funding and the consequences of not receiving adequate funding.
In the 24hr period of the day of action, more than 20,000 people signed the campaign website, more than doubling the campaigns supporters. More than 15,000 emails have now been sent to Minister Conroy, including more than 7,000 emails direct to supporters local MPs. The CBAA has planned the campaign to continue right up to the announcement of the Federal Budget in May when they hope the Government will resolve the issue.
