Welcome to the June 2019 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?
  • This month we learn about ReachOut NextStep, an online mental health tool that can help young people work out what’s going on, and then recommend support options so that they can take the next step.
  • We catch up with Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia to find out why it’s important for expecting and new parents in rural and remote areas to reach out for help and support if they need it.
  • We find out about some of the highlights of this year’s National Suicide Prevention Conference program.
  • We find out about the information, advice and support you can access from headspace if you’re a young person who’s experiencing depression, or if you’re going through a tough time.
  • And we learn more about how to recognise the signs and symptoms of anxiety.
