Community Broadcasting Suicide Prevention Project - November 2022

The Community Broadcasting Association of Australia is pleased to welcome you to the November 2022 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?

This month, we find out about the new Images Matter guidelines for image use, which are designed to inform, support and empower media and others who are communicating publicly about mental health and wellbeing, mental ill-health, suicide and self-harm, and alcohol and other drugs.

We profile the Doing It Tough website, which provides links and resources for men at risk of suicide to a broad range of services, from clinical services to local men's groups.

We encourage you to use the Movember Conversations online tool to help you to navigate important conversations with men in your life who might be struggling.

With new research showing ongoing negative impacts of COVID on workers, we hear how it’s never been more important to take steps to look after our mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

And we hear about the work Butterfly does to advocate on behalf of people impacted by negative body image, disordered eating and clinical eating disorders, and those who support and care for them.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]

Segments can be accessed through the CRN box.
