What's in this month's segments?

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month we learn about the new guidelines Mindframe have developed which empower safe and responsible reporting on the issues of mental illness in the context of violence and crime, and which seek to minimise stigma and promote help-seeking behaviour.

We hear about the award-wining Better Off With You campaign, which features real stories told by local people who share their experiences of suicidal thoughts and feeling like a burden on the people in their life, and how they came to see things differently.

We learn about the work being done by the Grapevine Group, a grassroots organisation dedicated to raising awareness for suicide prevention in the Mackay region.

We catch up with the team at ReachOut to hear about some practical things young people can do to take a proactive approach to study stress.

And we learn about the LivingWorks Start program, a 90-minute online program that anyone can take to be trained to recognise the signs of suicide and take life-saving action by connecting those at risk to hope and safety.
