Welcome to the November 2017 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

What's in this month's segments?
  • This month we catch up with SANE Australia Head of Service Delivery Suzanne Leckie for some advice on how to respond to someone who isn't OK.
  • We profile Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week, held from November 12 to 18, which is a great time to build more understanding about this serious and common illness.
  • We look at the practical resources ReachOut has developed to help students, and their parents, to cope with the stress of exams and what lays beyond.
  • With around half a million Australians living with obsessive-compulsive disorder, we speak with SANE Australia about some of the myths surrounding this highly misunderstood illness.
  • And we profile the Mates in Construction program, which aims to deliver better mental health and wellbeing outcomes for workers in the building and construction industry.
