CBAA has secured funding for another three years for The Community Radio Suicide Prevention project, a partnership with the Department of Health. Through the project monthly segments are published as resources for stations to help educate listeners and to help with suicide prevention.

The Community Radio Suicide Prevention Project utilises both satellite and local radio broadcasting to provide national delivery of suicide, mental health and well-being messages (in both long and short formats) through a network of over 300 radio stations nationwide. The project also utilises community engagement in communities around Australia and the distributes a monthly booklet and audio CD to promote suicide prevention, help-seeking behaviours and well-being to a large national audience.

Every three months throughout the project, specific content is packaged for youth, Indigenous and CALD audiences and distributed to all community radio stations broadcasting to these audience groups (including information in a range of community languages). The project also provides regular support and webinars for community broadcasters to build their confidence in discussing suicide prevention and addressing stigma through their trusted relationship with diverse local communities.

How to access the segments

The CRN will continue to mail out physical copies, and will make these radio segments available digitally on CRN Box. Please note that this content is no longer available on Soundcloud.
