The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the August 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we find out how you can get involved in Liptember this September and help to support women’s mental health initiatives, support services and research.

We’re reminded to let the people we care about know we're here, to really hear them, this R U OK? Day.

We learn about Butterfly’s Body Kind initiative, which is a positive body image movement for young people that provides free and engaging activities to help young Australians find ways to be kind to their own body and to others.

We find out about Lifeline’s Support Toolkit, which is designed to reach help seekers who aren’t ready to talk to someone else about their situation, or who simply prefer to manage things themselves first.

And we hear about the Our Words Matter guidelines for image and language use related to mental health and wellbeing, mental ill-health, suicide and self-harm, and alcohol and other drugs.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]

Segments can be accessed via the CRN box.
