The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the June 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we find out more about the Our Words Matter guidelines for image and language use related to mental health and wellbeing, mental ill-health, suicide and self-harm, and alcohol and other drugs.

We look at the peer-driven support services Switchboard provides for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender diverse, intersex, queer and asexual people, as well as their families, allies and communities.

We find out about the Health in Gear program, which has been created to support the health and wellbeing of transport and logistics workers on the job and at home.

We chat with MATES in Construction Field Officer Justine Geange and find out what people working in the construction industry can do to support a mate who might be doing it tough.

And we catch up with the team at PANDA to highlight the mental health needs of new and expecting fathers, as well as the support available to them.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected].

Segments can be accessed via the CRN box.
