The Community Broadcasting Association is pleased to welcome you to the October 2023 content of our national suicide prevention and mental health awareness project, developed with the support of the Australian Government Department of Health.

Each month, our project team develops a series of 20 short radio segments designed to promote help-seeking behaviour and positive lifestyle choices, using interviews with service providers, as well as profiles of people who have successfully dealt with tough times in their lives.

This month, we catch up with ReachOut to learn about the profound impact school refusal has on young people, as well as their parents, carers and other family members.

We remind ourselves that every day is the day to ask R U OK? and start a meaningful conversation whenever we spot the signs that someone we care about might be struggling with life.

We learn about new research commissioned by Act for Kids which reveals large numbers of young people aged 14 to 17 don’t talk to anyone when they’re feeling worried.

We speak with the team at PANDA as they mark 40 years of supporting parents and families during pregnancy and throughout the first year of parenthood.

And we look ahead to this year’s Movember event and remind you of all the ways you can get involved and support men’s health.

For more information on this project, please contact the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia on (02) 9310 2999, or email: [email protected]

Segments can be accessed via the CRN box.
